Work Permits

Escondido Union High School District students please follow these instructions to obtain a work permit between June 12 and July 12, 2025.    

  1. Print Statement of Intent to Employ a Minor and Request for a Work Permit-Certificate of Age CDE Form B1-1(DOC).  Complete the Statement of Intent to Employ a Minor and Request for a Work Permit-Certificate of Age CDE Form B1-1(DOC) and have your parent/guardian & employer sign and date their section in pen. It is mandatory to provide your social security number.    
  • Employer completes and signs Section 1 (“Statement of Employer”).   
  • Student completes Section 2 (“Statement of Parent or Guardian Regarding Minor”) and obtains a signature from your parent/guardian.   
  1. Upload the Statement of Intent to Employ a Minor and Request for a Work Permit-Certificate of Age and a picture of the identification card to the secured upload center linked here.

  

Check your EUHSD email account in 2 to 3 business days.  If approved for a work permit, you will be notified through your EUHSD email account.  Once notified, your work permit will be available for your signature, identification verification, and pick up at the District Service Center 302 North Midway Drive, Escondido CA 92027, during business hours.

Escondido Union High School District issues work permits for minors residing within the district boundaries and enrolled in district schools: Del Lago Academy, Escondido, Orange Glen, San Pasqual, and Valley.    

 

 

Work Permit Requirements

 

Work permits are considered a privilege and will only be issued to students who meet the following criteria:

 

Satisfactory academic progress

Maintaining a GPA of 2.0 or higher & passing a minimum of 4 courses during the latest 6-week grading period of the regular school year at its corresponding high school of the EUHSD.

Satisfactory attendance

Not being classified as “habitually truant” or “excessively absent” as determined by the guidelines of the EUHSD & its corresponding high schools’ Attendance Office.

  1. Students failing both academic and attendance requirements will NOT be issued a work permit.
  2. Students failing to meet one of these requirements may be considered for issuance of a “probationary” work permit for a maximum of six weeks.
  3. Failure to maintain the district standards during any 6-week period will result in either the work permit being placed on probationary status or revoked.
  4. Grades will be checked within one week following the end of each grading period.
  5. Parents and employers will be notified of all work permits being placed on probation or revoked.
