DID YOUR CHILD MISS MATH CLASS?
When a scholar misses my math class...at least an hour and 40 minutes of math practice is missed. But kiddos can re-connect with me during a couple of lunches to figure out their missed math practice and independently practice at home. Scholars can ask me questions before classtime or after classtime.

SYNERGY-Online Grade Program
Scholars & parents can read of special education/ELL techniques that I used for each class assignment. The math topics taught is at high school level, in accordance with the California Department of Education. The modifications and accommodations in my classes (SAI & Co-Taught) are in accordance to IDEA & IEPs.

QUIZZES & TESTS
Scholars can retake these, for a higher grade. Its best that I be given prior notice so I can be prepared. Scholars are expected to use thier math notes on tests. Quizzes are usually short (2-4 questions) and notes are not allowed to be used for quizzes. It is a common accommodation that I help scholars organize their notes, book and calculator before tests. Other accommodations that I do are, when a scholar allows me to: read aloud instructions/questions, I help connect information in scholar's math notes and I re-wording math questions on math tests/quizzes and assignments. In some instances dependent upon ability, scholars show their math knowledge/thinking by explaining answers to me in addition to writing math answers. Some scholars may opt to write thier answers on large whiteboards rather than pen & paper.

CLASS ASSIGNMENTS & HOMEWORK
All scholars are expected to finish assignments during classtime. Scholars are given ample time to finish assignments during class. Separate homework practice is assigned.
In order to continue passing math class, all scholars need to turn in high school level quality math thinking on thier assignments. If a scholar is absent, it is okay to turn in late assignments without a penalty to the grade.

ACADEMIC BOOSTS & Academic Interventions
During class practice scholars will mostly work in squads to bounce their math thinking off of other people. Thinking the math out loud, helps long-term memory. The class takes turns reading sentences, aloud. Scholars can get additional individual math help from afterschool tutoring in the library. In addition, OGHS offers free Saturday tutoring sessions.
