Read chapter 2 sections 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the text on "Origins" and for each section define any bold words and give a detailed summary.

Notebook due; follow the notebook handout requirements and put all listed items in the same order as listed in the handout.

Prepare for the chapter one test. Study all your class notes and your maps. Complete the review puzzle and History of Oceanography Chart for credit.

Read Chapter 1 sections 14, 18, and 20 and summarize each section. Define any bold words in each section also.

Read Appendix III and IV about latitude and longitude and maps from page 467 through page 471.  Summarize the important concepts in each section and define any bold words on these pages.

Compare Latitude and Longitude using a VENN Diagram. Start by drawing two large circles that overlap each other. In the middle where they overlap, put all the things they have in common (such as they both measure degrees of a circle). On the left circle put all the things that make latitude different from longitude (maximum degree, measure east and west of 0 degrees or north and south, where the zero line is located, lines that go vertical or horizontal on a map); then on the right circle put all the things that make longitude different.

Use appendix III, page 467 in text as well as Box 1.1 on page 9 to help you.

Read chapter 1 sections 1.11, 1.12, and 1.13. For each section, using your own words define any bold words and summarize each section.

Read Chapter 1 sections 1.8, 1.9, and 1.10. For each section, using your own words define any bold words and summarize each section with a paragraph.

Read Chapter 1 sections 4 through 6.  I gave them a worksheet for this that I attached below.
